Wolverine is arguably one of the most iconic comic book characters of all time. He’s a mutant whose bones are laced with adamantium, making him superhumanly strong and resistant to most conventional types of damage. He’s trained in the art of the Samurai, has no fear of death, and can shoot ice out of his hands, among other superhuman abilities. The character was introduced in 1964 by Marvel writers Roy Thomas and John Romita, Sr., who was responsible for many of Marvel’s early comic book creations.
After years of waiting, fans can finally play “Wolverine” on PC. The game was first announced during E3 2016. But, if you were wondering when you’ll be able to take the character’s iconic claws out for a spin on your PC, fret not. According to the game’s official website, “Wolverine” will be released only on the PC, and the game is planned for a Q4 2017 release.
There are three more X-Men movies coming out, all of which are spinning off from the solo Wolverine movie that came out last year. The next release, titled Logan, will focus on the character’s early years as a superhero, while the third film, titled Deadpool 2, will serve as a sequel to the surprise hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One of the main announcements made at the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021 was Marvel’s Wolverine. It was developed by Insomniac Games and seems to signal Marvel’s greater push into video game area, leaving fans wondering whether it will be released on PC and when it will be released.
Logan hasn’t had a real video game in a long time, and the developer wants to “respect the DNA of what makes the character so famous while also looking for chances to make it feel new and genuinely represent the Insomniac ethos.”
Its Spider-Man game track record is promising, and Marvel’s Wolverine will be helmed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as creative director and game director, respectively.
Unfortunately, there’s no news on whether or not Marvel’s Wolverine will be released on PC anytime soon. According to the PlayStation Blog, the game is “extremely early in production” and hasn’t been given a wide release date, implying that it may be years away.
Sony intends to port additional PS4 exclusives to PC, but Marvel’s Wolverine is “in development for PlayStation 5,” according to the game’s introduction video.
